Pardubice, 15 November 2012 – "Functionality of the renovated technology in harsh winter climate will be tested by the trial operation, which started today," said Martina Březina, specialist on old ecological burdens in Paramo.
The hydraulic protection system for underground water (HOPV) for preventing contamination outside the company area and for sanitation has been operated by Paramo since 1992. The basic task of this technology is to create such down-flow ratio of underground water so as to prevent the spread of oil contamination outside the occurrence area and to draw oil hydrocarbons from the underground water surface.
"Efficiency of the sanitation system has decreased significantly during the twenty years of operation. This was also a reason why the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic in 2011 signed a contract with Geotest for the reconstruction and strengthening of the basic sanitation element for old ecological burdens," reminded the specialist on old ecological burdens in Paramo.
The investment realization took place this year from February to October and included the dismounting of original constructions, regeneration and complete replacement of the technology of six sanitation boreholes including piping and electro installation. "The works took place during full operation of HOPV and production departments, which posed significant challenges on the coordination of activities and ensuring work safety," adds Martin Březina z Parama.
Totally reconstructed hydraulic barrier (boreholes and drains) will prevent the spreading of contamination through the rock environment into the area surrounding Paramo. At the same time, the reconstruction will increase the efficiency of sanitation drainage of underground water and oil hydrocarbons.
